Private Utility Locating — Texas

811 marks public utility lines. Private property is a different problem. We locate what 811 doesn't cover — before you dig, bore, or trench.

Why 811 Isn't Enough for Private Property

Calling 811 is required before excavation. It is not a substitute for private utility locating.

In most cases, 811 coverage stops at the property boundary or meter. Private electric, gas, water, irrigation, sewer, telecom, and abandoned utilities on private property are typically not marked by the one-call system.

Commercial sites, campuses, apartment complexes, industrial facilities, and redeveloped properties frequently contain undocumented underground infrastructure.

If excavation starts without private utility locating, contractors are often working from incomplete information.

811 covers the utility company's infrastructure. Everything on your side of the meter is on you.
