Utility Locating in Frisco, TX

Frisco has been one of the fastest-growing cities in America for two decades, which means its ground holds brand-new utilities installed by dozens of different builders, districts, and contractors, each keeping their own records. New does not mean documented.

Frisco Site Conditions

A city built at full speed, by many hands

The Fields, the PGA district, the Dallas North Tollway corridor, and the star-studded development pipeline mean Frisco's utilities were installed recently, quickly, and by many different parties. Each developer, utility district, and trade kept its own drawings, and hand-offs between phases are where documentation dies.

The Blackland clay underneath does not care how new the pipe is. Seasonal soil movement starts shifting lines the day they are buried, and fast-track construction schedules mean field changes that never got redlined.

  • Multi-developer projects with fragmented utility records
  • Fast-track construction where field changes outran the drawings
  • Fiber and conduit densely trenched through new corridors
  • Expansive clay moving even recently installed lines
  • Active construction zones needing locates between trades

Frisco FAQs

Frisco Utility Locating FAQs

The utilities here are new. Why would they need locating?
Because new construction in Frisco is installed by many parties on fast schedules, and the record set fragments at every hand-off. A line installed last year by a different contractor is still an unknown line to your crew.
Does 811 cover construction sites in Frisco?
811 covers participating operators' lines up to the meter or property line. On an active development, the internal distribution, temporary power, irrigation, and site utilities past that point are private and unmarked without a private locate.
Can you work around an active construction schedule?
Yes, that is most of our work. Tell us the trade sequence and access constraints and we will fit the locate between them.
Do you cover the tollway corridor projects?
Yes. Corridor and frontage work is routine; traffic control requirements just need to be in the scope so scheduling is realistic.
Do you provide GPS or GIS utility mapping?
Yes. Located utilities are logged with GPS and delivered as PDF maps and KMZ exports, so the locate stays usable after the paint fades.
When is potholing needed after a locate?
When a bore or trench has to pass an existing line with required clearance, a vacuum excavated test hole converts an estimated depth into a measured one. Locating establishes horizontal position; potholing verifies depth.
